Do you have a future gardener who enjoys watering plants until the sun comes down? Are you, the parent, exhausted from filling that can up with water every 20 seconds ON THE DOT? That time of year is right around the corner, but don’t worry; we’ve got you covered! Edgar created an infinity watering can for Melianna, our little gardener, and we would like to share his idea with you.

We can finally go for walks more than fifty feet from our house without worrying about refilling the watering can or offending anyone who doesn’t want a child pouring mystery liquid on their lawn (which is understandable). Thank goodness we have amazing neighbors!

The Infinity Watering Can

This handy infinity watering can is a continuation of Edgar’s toy garden bed. So, if you haven’t already, check that out also! Now, as my son would say, let’s get down to business!

What You’ll Need For The Infinity Watering Can

  • Watering Can. Make sure it has a long, slender, open spout.
  • Trimmer Line (Any color works but clear or blue gives it a natural look). IT MUST BE STIFF.
  • Any weight heavier than the trimmer line piece. Edgar used a bolt. This mechanism allows the stiff line to come out and go back in automatically.
  • Tape to secure the weight to the trimmer line. The video shows scotch tape, but we later discovered duct tape is better.

Time To Put It All Together

  • First, cut the trimmer line to your desired size for the water-pouring effect. Edgar cut the trimmer line to double the spout length.
  • Then secure your weight to one end of the trimmer line with tape.
  • Next, thread the non-weighted end of the trimmer line through the watering spout and out the hole. Start this step inside the watering can so the weight is inside, and the non-weighted end hangs out the spout.
  • Finally, attach your chosen material for the “water splashing” effect to the non-weighted end of the trimmer line.
